The conference will be hosted by the European Society for Cognitive Sciences of Music (ESCOM), and ESCOM members will pay a reduced registration fee for the conference. CALL FOR PROPOSALS Proposals for papers on all aspects of music cognition are welcome. The conference will include half-day plenary sessions on "Development of Musical Perception and Cognition" and " A Generative Theory of Tonal Music: Ten Years Later." Themes of other sessions will include attention and memory in mental representation, categorization, emotional experience, music performance and motor aspects, psychological aspects of composition, expression and communication, time organization in music representation, and computational models, among other topics. Two versions of a title and 200-word (max) abstract should be submitted to the conference organizer at the postal or e-mail address below. One version should give full name(s) and institutional affiliation(s) of author(s) with postal and email address, and fax number (if possible). The second copy should contain only the title and abstract for blind review. DEADLINE for submitting the abstracts is 31 October 1993. Notice of acceptance will be given by December 31, 1993. A complete paper of no more than 2000 words (4 pages) should be submitted on a 3.5" diskette (as a Word 4.0 or WordPerfect file) by March 1, 1994. It is planned at this point that conference presentations will be in French and English, with simultaneous translation.
