Event Name: Asolo Song Festival and Institute for Song Interpretation

Event Location: In the beautiful Veneto region of Italy, just north of Venice

Event Description and Information:

The ASOLO SONG FESTIVAL AND INSTITUTE FOR SONG INTERPRETATION, will start on May 22 and finish on June 16, 2006. The program focuses on the artistic interpretation of Art Song through careful study, preparation and performance. The Festival and Institute takes place in the beautiful Veneto region of Italy, just north of Venice. Students will enroll in a multi-sectioned Song-Interpretation course that concentrates on the transfer of music analytical skills to the performance of song. In addition, vocalists and pianists take private lessons and coachings and perform in multiple recitals in venues such as the famous Teatro Duse (repertoire includes both collaborative and solo works for voices and pianos).

Students may enroll in as many as 6 credits, including 3 that may be transferred as upper-level music theory credit. The festival is sponsored and organized by the City of Asolo, the Consortium of Universities for International Studies, which comprises 37 accredited U.S. public universities, and CIMBA, the Consortium's Italian affiliate. Course credits will be awarded by the University of Kansas, who is the Consortium university sponsor.
